FrontMotion Firefox Community Edition

FrontMotion Firefox Community Edition is a customized Firefox with the ability to lockdown settings through Active Directory using Administrative Templates.  Similar to lockdown settings with mozilla.cfg on one computer, you can now use Administrative Templates to enforce settings across your organization. Two templates are provided to allow common and advanced settings. Additionally, these installers can upgrade our Mozilla Firefox MSI.

Active Directory Deployment

1. Download from below and save it to a network location accessible by client computers (e.g. a network share on a domain controller).
2. Next step depends on if this is a new or upgrade site install.
   1. New site install: Create a Group Policy Object (GPO). Right click on an Organizational Unit (OU) or your top level domain, then Properties.  In the Group Policy tab, click New to create a new Group Policy.
   2. Existing site install: Edit an existing GPO that installs Firefox.
3. Edit the GPO and navigate to Computer Configuration -> Software Settings -> Software Installation
4. Next step depends on if this is a new or upgrade site install.
   1. New site install: Add the new package, specify the location of the Firefox MSI on a network share. (e.g. \\server\appinstalls\firefox\firefox-x.x.x.x.msi). To use transformations (*.mst), choose 'Advanced before clicking 'OK'.
   2. Existing site install: Add the new package and choose 'Advanced' to specify the older packages in the Upgrades tab in the new package's properties.
5. Configure client computers by loading firefox.adm and/or mozilla.adm. Please see Common configurations for comments on using firefox.adm
6. Important Note: lockPref settings are not removed when disabled! The setting becomes a user setting.

firefox.adm - Used to configure common Firefox settings and presents a user friendly interface for lockdown. Can be used for Per Computer Configuration and Per User Configuration.

mozilla.adm v 1.4 (Explanation of settings) - Per Computer Configuration only, this advanced Administrative template contains all Mozilla settings similar to mozilla.cfg.  This can be used together with firefox.adm to enforce more advanced settings. Duplicate settings in mozilla.adm will override firefox.adm settings.
